Cook up some brushwork in Fresco.
RESOURCES
Note: Project files included with this tutorial are for practice purposes only.
It’s easy to go digital when it feels like real paint. Grab your iPad and use your Apple Pencil® to paint, mix, and blend like a pro in Fresco. Start by importing a reference photo into your workspace. Then make it your own by adding stylized linework and expressive watercolors.
Before you start, click on the “Copy to your work” button on the left to download your practice file. It has all the assets you need to follow along.
Step 1: Pick your photo.
To give yourself a head start, open the provided practice file in Fresco. Or, if you want to do something original instead, open a fresh document and tap Import to add a photo of your own. (Tip: images with a single focal point will help simplify the drawing process.)
Step 2: Create loose linework.
Use a pixel brush to draw on a fresh layer. (Tip: lower the opacity of the reference image to make your lines more visible.)
Step 3: Go to the sunny side.
On a new layer beneath your linework, use the Live Watercolor brush to paint naturally. These brushes bleed, mix, and blend like real watercolors.
Step 4: Serve to social.
When you’re done, select the Publish & export button on the top navigation bar. Easily share to Behance, export as a social-ready file format, or share a timelapse video of your workflow.
